Will someone please explain what the below options mean which is stated in programs in the ERAS application. I searched the FAQs and found no explainations on this. 😕

The majority of new grads entering anesthesia choose a prelim year (medicine, surg, or transitional) and an advanced anesthesiology position (CA-1-3). The rest choose categorical (linked prelim and advanced spot at one institution).
