Hey all,

I'm applying to Transitional year programs (33 total) and the Griffin Hospital combined IM/Prev. Med. with plans to apply to General Preventive Medicine and Public Health Programs DURING that year (they largely don't participate in ERAS) if I don't match into Griffin. My stats: Pass-High Pass in first 2 yrs, Pass-Honors in 3rd (mostly pass, though I'm told Medicine's an important clerkship and I Honored it. My Med Sub-I grades won't be finalized in time), Step 1 score 230, Step 2 untaken yet, no active research (will do so starting December), much extracurricular activity.
As of 11/30/2007 I have 4 interviews scheduled at St. Vincent Indianapolis, Swedish Covenant Chicago, Griffin in Connecticut, and a Spectrum Health hospital in Grand Rapids Michigan.
Given all that, when should I really consider applying to medicine prelim programs and/or MORE tranny programs if more interviews don't roll my way? I am concerned because I obviously don't know the number of interviews to virtually secure a spot when I rank. When would YOU panic?

Thanks for any help anyone can give!
-Gerrit

"Tranny" year?

Good God.

Haha!! You must be thinking what I'm thinking...I immediately read this as transexual and was a little confused for a second!

Sorry for the distracting abbreviation. But can anyone answer this before I go crazier than Hooch worrying about having to attend Hollywood Upstairs Medical College, noted for alumnus Dr. Nick Riviera? 1-800-DoctorB.

Thanks again,
Gerrit

Here is the OP interviewing with the PD 2 years ago:

I wonder if he/she matched?

I do not believe I will ever view the transitional year the same after this post.

Thank you.

I thought you have to wait a year out with regular psychological evaluation for this?
