I've heard people say that Adcoms will sometimes overlook the first year or two if the grades are poor and the second two are good. My question is by year do they mean actual years or, freshmen year and sophmore year. For example, If one had about a three year long freshmen year of multiple F's and W's, sorted out their problems and made straight A's afterwards would the sophmore and freshmen year be forgiven, or just the first two years of the horrible freshmen year?

It depends on what GPA you are rolling with. If you are a 2.0, nothing is make up for it unless your classes are retakes. If it is 3.0 it is much easier to see an upward trend. Make sense?
