I just graduated last Thursday. Today I went to my registrars office to request my transcripts to be sent to AMCAS. They said that I would probably want to wait until my diploma shows up on my transcript. The problem with this is that it will probably take until the first or second week of June. Should I just wait until my degree shows up or should I just have them send it out now. All my grades are on the transcript it just wont say that I finished my degree. Thanks!

No, don't wait.

You do not need to be a grad to apply, right? Only need to be a grad to matriculate...if you have an acceptance next year this time, your med school will require a new transcript anyway, and it will show that you are a grad.

I agree. Time matters more than saying you graduated.

AMCAS doesn't care if your degree is posted or not... once you're accepted, the school you choose to go to will request an official copy of your transcript (and will specifically mention that they want to see your degree posted)...

:luck:

Thanks, yeah my registrars office was saying I should wait. But yeah I just put in the request to send AMCAS my transcripts...hopefully it wont take too long haha.

But if you just graduated when will your spring grades be posted? Should you wait until early/mid June for those grades (say June10-15 for transcript to be sent)

Send it now...

I sent in my transcripts two weeks before graduation because I didn't want my application to be held up by something that simple. Of course, I will be held up a bit by a student loan coming in later than expected. I took out a huge loan just before graduation to finance the application process 🙂 You can still list any honors you received at graduation in AMCAS...I'm sure they'll get the idea.

I would probably submit it now, but 2 weeks isn't a huge deal. Whatever you feel more comfortable with.

No need to wait if you are a senior unless you think those grades will help you.

Thus if you expect those grades to help you, wait, if they don't make much difference, apply as soon as possible?

And if your school is sending the transcript early June, and you decide to wait for that, is there any reason to submit before that time to save a place in line or does nothing happen until your final transcript arrives?

Your intrepretation of my answer is correct.

The countdown till verification starts from the moment they have ALL of your transcripts and your primary, I believe, so there is no "saving your place in line." However, I do not know if the email you get confirming transcript receipt is in "real time," so there's no harm in sending everything in as soon as it's ready rather than waiting for verification that transcripts arrived.
