How closely do Med schools evaluate your transcript over the summer prior to matriculation?
For example, if you thought you were doing an honors thesis when you filed your amcas, but you can no longer write a thesis and therefore wont get honors in your respective major, is this a really big deal, i.e. grounds for rescinding an offer?
should you let med schools know of this change prior to the summer?
any informed input would be appreciated.

They really just look to make sure you have completed the pre-reqs...I know at Iowa I've already got every sent in and confirmed and the medical school didn't have anything to do with the process, everything was sent to their "regular" admissions office where I assume someone just went through with a checklist and checked off orgo, physics, math, bio etc. and then closed my admissions file making my admission final so I doubt you will be in trouble for not writing a thesis unless you were using the independent study credit hours as upper level biology or something and you didn't recieve credit.
