Since the first day to send out is June 1st, does that mean our transcripts have to be actually verified before then?

My school doesn't give out grades until like May 21st or so, I'm not sure if I could make it.

Also, once I receive a secondary, is there a deadline to return? What if I hadn't had all my LOR's ready by then?

What's the earliest day schools send out secondaries, such as Mayo or Duke or Northwestern?

Thanks,

Jake

1) Transcripts must be received before you can submit. The verification process is done AFTER you submit (otherwise, what is there to verify if you haven't filled out that section yet!)

2) Secondaries should be done ASAP so they don't pile up on you. A good rule of thumb is to have them turned in roughly 2 weeks after you get them.

3) Not sure, but you should be able to search for the prompts from last year. They rarely change.

NOTE: IF YOU ARE APPLYING TO DUKE, LOOK AT THEIR SECONDARY BEFORE YOU WASTE $30 ON THEIR PRIMARY FEE. 6 ESSAYS IS TOO MUCH FOR MOST PEOPLE.

you can have your transcript forwarded to AMCAS whenever your grades are in. you can submit your AMCAS application BEFORE OR AFTER having your transcript forwarded. The order in which they receive it does not matter. After AMCAS has both your transcript AND your application, they begin the verification process. If you submit in June, this should take about a week. LORs are submitted directly to the schools you are applying to, either as one composite letter from your pre-health office, or individual letters straight from your recommenders to the schools. your LORs can be submitted at any time, but the earlier the better, even before submitting secondaries. Schools will consider your application complete when they receive your application fee, your secondary, and your LORs, at which point they can begin the evaluation process. Hope this helps. good luck.

how would I know where to send LOR's into for before I get my secondary?

Also, how long does verify takes? I'm guessing I'll have transcripts ready to be sent on May 22nd or so. Hopefully it doesnt take too long

Is Duke one of the schools where you can send in the secondary anytime before the deadline, or do they have like a week turn around for those 6 essays.

Speaking of transcripts... I don't recall reading from where, but is there a special coversheet that the school must include when sending our transcript? I remember that we need to find a way for our AMCAS number or something to be included with the transcript submission so that it can be added to our file.

Is that correct?

What happens if you make a mistake? or they find a discrepancy between your report & transcript?

They change it and theres a little mark next to it saying they changed it. Its not a big deal - most people make mistakes in how they enter it. About 1/4 of my entries were changed by AMCAS. If you make too many major mistakes they will send it back to you though.
