It is my understanding that med schools do not receive your transcript(s) and they only receive the calculated GPA for purpose of admission. After admission, the med school you will matriculate will request an official transcript.
Is this correct?

If so:
I have an embarrassing amount of transcripts. Will the med school only want the transcript from the university I received my degree? I took all but one of my prerequisites at the same university.
I have a feeling I will have to send all of my transcripts, but it will be wonderful if I don't have to send every single one since they've already been verified during the admission/GPA calculation process.

Thank you for your help.

I don't believe I had to send transcripts to my school after I was accepted, but this may be a school-specific thing. If they want one, they'll probably want all of them, though.

A med school that doesn't require all official transcripts before matriculation is taking a legal risk.

There's liability in granting the MD or DO, and any academic registrar worth his/her paycheck isn't going to take an AMCAS/AACOMAS/TMDSAS summary as a blessing. Same goes for residency program directors.

I don't think you know that you have to list all your schools on med school apps, and you have to list every class you ever took anywhere, and that's all listed on the app that goes to schools.

If there's an intention here to obfuscate poor grades, yes, this means there's no hiding. And for the folks who think they can hide a transcript for whatever reason, that's a career-destroying mistake, because if/when that college attendance gets discovered that's fraud. Which gets you dismissed, or gets your degree revoked.

FWIW, I have six transcripts, all but one tarnished, and one of them has to be pulled from actual microfiche when I order it. Buck up.

That actually does make me feel better. I have six transcripts. Thank you.

I have 7 transcripts, a half dozen degrees, and no one cared. They will want them all though and you will have to explain why the long path to figuring out medicine was your dream.

I also have seven. Including one I found out was on hold for a $10 campus parking ticket back in 2001.

Had to get them all to apply. Will have to get them all again to matriculate this summer. You do what you gotta do.
