I just rec'd 2 "official" copies of my transcrips in the mail!?!? I requested that they be sent to the schools I'm applying to 6 WEEKS ago. I can only hope that they are just sending these to me as a courtesy - but that seems highly unlikely. Deadline is Monday - and it's currently Friday afternoon. My only option, I assume, is to overnight them (un-opened) to the schools I've applied and hope they arrive Monday (deadline) - but they could be a day late, IF they weren't already sent to the schools directly. . . in which case they will be duplicates.

Any thoughts? Are the schools typically very strict about transcripts coming in last minute (or a day late)? It can't possibly look good... :-(

....ahh....

Nick 😡 👎 😕

I believe most places will tell you if they are missing anything once they finally sort the giant pile of mail that has come in, in the past week. Then you will probably have some reasonable (potentially brief, but reasonable) amount of time to get it to them. Call the registrar's office of the sending school - they can probably tell you whether the transcripts were sent or not.

Thanks. Yes, I plan to call the sending school to make sure they've been sent - but they don't reopen until Monday (the due date). Hopefully they've sent them ... gosh...

I just decided in the past week to apply to Wisconsin, which I wasn't previously considering. Their website said some very severe things about transcripts being postmarked by the 2nd. I figured I could get almost everything postmarked by Monday, *except* the transcript for a couple post-bacc classes I did while I was working at a university after graduation. The *only* way I can get that transcript sent is by mailing in a form (no online or phone ordering). So even if I overnighted the request form, and had them do the rush-est of rush processing available, that transcript *could not* have been postmarked by Monday. I called Wisconsin on Thursday, the woman who answered the phone sounded discouraging and told me I'd have to speak with the admissions manager, who was already gone for the day. I got to speak to her Friday morning, thought I was going to have to ask for a special exception, pretty pretty please... She said, "Oh, no problem! Just send it as soon as you can. If it hasn't gotten here by mid-October you'll get an e-mail saying your application isn't complete, and you'll have a week to get it in after that. But it sounds like it will probably be here before we send the e-mails anyway."

So, that was at least one school that sounded strict but is not actually going to throw out the entire application if a transcript isn't sitting on their desk by the minute the deadline expires.

It didn't sound like they were going to put a big red "this student sent stuff in late" tag on my folder that would count against me later, either... 🙂

You gotta figure that stuff just gets lost - be it in the mail from the sending end or on the recieving end or whatever. It seems as if schools have been pretty down to earth about things.

Hey..

I wouldn't worry too much about it if your transcript misses by a day or two. My transcript went missing in the post. I didn't know this till it showed up in my application page a month later. I had to resubmit for a transcript request at my university and all in all, I was about a month and a half late. However, my transcript was still accepted.

So, try your best to make the dateline but if you don't make it..i don't think vet schools penalize you heavily on this.
