Hey everyone!
For all of us applying this October, good luck!
I wanted to get a general consensus on when people send their transcripts, or if they have, to the schools that require them for the Oct 1st deadline. I had one sent to my house to see how quick it would be, and it was about a week... and so I didn't want to send them too early to schools, but of course not too late.

My major schools are CSU (don't require transcripts right away) and UTK... among a couple others.

UTK requires them by Oct 1st. Too soon to send them now?

Hey there!

Welcome to the forum. I would recommend sending your transcripts right away. It is better to send them early so you have time to re-send them if something goes lost.

The schools will start a folder for you as soon as they begin receiving materials so there is really no reason to wait at all.

Good luck!

Hi, and welcome! I second GellaBella. When I applied last year I had my transcripts (from 3 different schools) sent in July. I had the same worries that you do now, but none of my transcripts got lost. Of course it's always a possibility (even if you send them now, or closer to October 1st), which is why GellaBella brings up an excellent point - sending them early gives you ample time to make sure they all get to your schools in time! Also, although it took the transcript you requested for yourself a week to get to you, at most schools transcript turnaround time is also dependent on how many requests they have. I would suspect that the registrar's office at your school will become busier as October 1st draws closer, so it may even take longer than a week for your transcripts to be sent out the longer you wait. Good luck!

Hi! I actually just requested my transcripts this week. I figured this would give me enough time to make sure nothing was lost so if I need, I can resend them.

I'm planning to request that my transcripts be sent on August 23rd, or thereabouts. This is because I'm taking summer classes and my second session grades should be ready by then. Because of my weak GPA (and because I expect these classes to help boost it even just a tiny bit), I want to get those grades recorded before I send my transcripts. If this isn't the case for you, I'd send them as soon as you can, just to get them out of the way 🙂

I agree with what everyone else said - it is not too early. I actually just requested mine to be sent out today. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the advice... I am thinking of just sending my undergrad transcripts now and then I have to deal with my summer course ones from Temple, which hopefully will be ready to go by the end of the month since the class finishes Monday. I feel bad sending them at all different times but I have to assume the schools do not send them out all at the same time anyway, so I figure its okay for my designated vet schools to be getting a couple transcripts at different times.

Question on trasncript etiquette:

So in an attempt to be efficient, I sent out my transcripts from undergrad. Now I am having a change of heart about one or possibly two schools I sent trans. Is it polite to contact their admin department and let them know I will not be sending any further app stuff? Or should I just not say anything at all and firgure they will throw it away? These are schools that I may consider applying to next year if things go poorly this year.

Thanks!

If it were me, I'd call up the admissions department and polite explain that you will not be continuing the application process with [their school] for whatever reason. That's what I'd do, anyway 🙂

I'd be real careful about sending any un-needed correspondence. I worked in a (non-vet) grad admissions office. No one there would care if there was an old folder with a transcript in it. Happened all the time. The next year it would just be sitting there as well. They would notice it was old but no more thought in general.

On the other hand, what you write in that letter may have the unintended consequence of causing the committee to ask questions they might not have asked, or you may say something that just doesn't sit well. You never know.

Of course, if you want to be Miss or Mr. Manners, you can send a letter. Me, I wouldn't bother!
