Hi! Yes! Is it possible to transfer between colleges to take certain classes? I know one university that offers a course that is not available to my current university. Then there's a second university that offers a course with a publically renowned professor that I would love to learn from. Is it possible to transfer between colleges just for those classes? Is there anything similar to that? I am very interested in the courses, but have no luck because the three universities have what the other doesn't.

You can ask if you can "cross-register" for a specific course. Some universities allow you to do this, some don't. I doubt you will get permission to take a course just because of the instructor but you may have better luck cross-registering for a course that isn't offered at your university. To "transfer" to a school, you have to submit a formal application and become a student of that new school. You typically can't jump back and forth.

Go in person and chat with someone in the Registrar's office to find out more.

At my school you have to have prior permission to take a class at another school. The department head wants to read the course description, syllabus, etc and then they can approve the class for credit. If they don't approve it you could still take the class, as long as the other university allows someone to take classes as a non-degree candidate. Plenty of people do it at my school since they don't offer summer classes and premeds don't want to take calc-based physics.

I've heard of people enrolling as a "transient" student at another university, usually during the summer term. I don't see any problem with doing such a thing, especially if the courses interest you and you do well in them.
