If I transfer schools, and let's say not all of my science course credits transfer, will I have to retake these courses at the school I transfer to?

I have so far taken two biology classes, two chemistry courses, a calculus class, a psychology course, a neuroscience class, and an English course. Let's say that for some reason, my chemistry courses do not transfer. They will of course be on my transcript for my original school, however, will I have to retake these, or will I be fine since they will still be on my transcript.

Thanks!

Well, it depends on your major. if the school your transferring too denies the chem, it wont go toward your degree, and if chem is required on your degree, you need to retake it.

Hi. I meant to say will Medical School Adcoms view me any differently because of a prerequisite I took at my previous college did not transfer to my new college, however, the class will still be listed on my transcript.

no, AMCAS/med school admissions will be looking directly at what is on the original transcript from each school. So if you had a B+ in General Chem at School A, and transfer to School B where it is not counted, AMCAS/med schools will use the B+

Okay, good. So I would not have to retake Chemistry for Medical School if I transferred?

Correct as long as you took it at a 4-year US university it will meet the requirement. No need to re-take just to have it on both transcripts.

Thanks so much!

Could you retake it at the new school, and report the grades there for AMCAS?

Ie. freshman at old schools gets B+ in Intro Biology
That student transfers, new school does not accept the credit, student retakes intro Bio at new school and gets an A.

Could he report an A in intro Bio, and never mention the B+?

AMCAS requires transcripts from all institutions that you ever attended, and would factor in both the B+ from the first place and the A from the second place in their GPA calculation.

How? Average them?

Counted like they were any other class. Change one of the names from "general biology" to "neuro systems" or something if it's easier to think about it that way. They may have different credit values so it isn't a true averaging of the scores.
