If you transfer from a DO to MD program after 2nd year (assuming you pass step 1), and do all your clinical yrs in MD, do you graduate with an MD?

Not sure, maybe they might give you an 'MO'.

BTW, nailing Jessica Alba and switching med schools, share the same odds.

You should- your degree is granted by the institution you graduate from.

 now factor in the chances of switching between DO to MD

The answer is "Yes".

However, as sirius elegantly put it, there have to be some serious circumstances for you to be considered as a transfer student, regardless if it is DO-DO, DO-MD, or MD-MD.

I know which one I'd rather do.

Would wife having a new baby count?
btw, said wife is also a resident at the MD institution. Does that improve my chances?

why not just ask explain your situation to the institution and see what they say? you wont get any conclusive answers on this forum

Yes It might, but is dependant on the school having an open spot, and you have to beat out whoever else is trying to transfer. Most schools at best have 1 or 2 openings, if any. Also if there are DO schools in the area your odds are probably better with them because MD schools may not feel comfortable poaching from DO schools (starts a bad precedent/creates ill will).

???

Yes, I agree- "bad precedent" with one student transferring. 🙄

As for "ill will"-really, schools have much more important issues to deal with than losing one student to the said transfer perhaps once every several years.
