Hello SDN community,

I'm a transfer student from a Community College I have finished all my major pre-reqs. I have completed physics, chemistry, organic chemistry, calculus, psychology, sociology. My GPA is a 4.0.

I have been accepted to UCD, UCSD, UCLA, UCB, and pending UCSC.

I know both UCSD and UCLA have medical schools which are a plus. UCSD has a senior transfer rate to medical schools, about 33% while UCLA and UCB have about a 53% senior transfer rate

I want to chose UCLA but at the same I want to choose UCB. I'm stuck which to choose.

Is upper division easier at UCLA or UCB? I love reading biology to understand it. Out of a class of 90 students, I was one of two who received an A+ in the course.

Should I pick UCB because it is more prestigious (only a tiny bit more than UCLA) and work really hard for four semesters to get above a 3.7 GPA which is extremely hard to get. I just need two years and I do not need to take the weed out classes at CAL so that's a plus. Both are great schools, I just can not choose! Please help!!!

I just do not want to go to a really hard cut-throat school just to give up on my dreams.

Sorry about the grammar.

Visit both of the campuses and see which one you'd fit in at best. Ask them about the resources and opportunities that matter to you most, as well as financials. They're both great institutions and you shouldn't let someone's anecdotal advice about one being "easier" than the other sway you.

Also, I know a lot of the med schools I'm applying to require that prerequisite courses be taken at 4-year institutions, not CC, so maybe look into that as well...

I'm pretty sure no med school accepts prereqs from Community Colleges, You'll have to retake them

thats really bad advice for anyone out there doing pre med in CC. MOST colleges do infact accept CC credits. Please do not comment on sections that you have little or no clue about.

If you don't like it, ignore it.

But you don't have to mislead others? You don't think I was active in this forum not to know that some medical schools do not accept CC credit? I always come here for info and moderators normally agree that if you go to community college first it really isn't frowned against at most schools because that was the only option available.

Instead of trying to change topics you could have answered the question on which UC I should choose.

Notice that the other guy said the same thing. How about you argue with him about it instead.
Pick whatever school you like better.

What do you plan on majoring in? Both UCLA and Cal have a pretty fair amount of grade deflation, even in the non-weedout classes. Cal more so than UCLA.

I assume your CC is in CA and you have met with your adviser to make sure all your courses are UC-transferable. Do you currently live in SoCal or NorCal? Typically students like to move to the school opposite their home.

And if you still can't decide...do keep in mind that UCLA has Diddy Riese cookies. 😀

Lol, yo, hold up, I specifically said I was speaking about "most of the schools I'm applying to..." and implied that OP should "look into" the requirements for schools they might be interested in down the road.

I didn't speak in absolutes and say "I'm pretty sure no medical school..." and that OP would "have to retake them."
