Hey guys, I'm new here so pardon me if this thread doesn't follow the typical procedure.

Here's my situation:

I'm a 2nd year community college student who's going to transfer to either UC Berkeley, LA, or Davis (LA and Cal still pending). I'm a psych major and the only DS pre-reqs I have done are GenChem (1yr), English (1yr), and Math (1 semester...I'm not sure if I need the second). I'm planning on getting a job after transfer and taking 3 years to graduate.

My question is - When I apply to dental schools, is it going to hurt me b/c I took 3 years to graduate after transferring?

Welcome!

Eh, if you need to work to pay for it, no, it won't hurt you at all, but you might need to explain that. It took me three years at my CC to transfer, but I took Gchem, Ochem, Physics, plus all the general ed, and it really never came up.

If I choose not to work and have my folks pay for undergrad, then is it considered a bad thing that I took three years?

I am assuming that If you get a high GPA and you have an "excuse" many schools will not hassle you too much. If you have low stats, it's just another thing to criticize you about. There really is not definite answer. I have heard many predents on here say that they got in with plenty of CC credits.
