I am currently a first year student at DePaul University in Chicago. I like it here and everything but I think i would be better if i went to a school that was better know for its science programs. I am chemistry major and i want to go to med school. So a few questions:

Would NYU be a good school to transfer to?
Do they accept transfer students often?
If you are a student at NYU how do you like?
Are the people easy going?
People at DePaul are a bit stand off-ish and i just want a friendlier atmosphere.

Any info will be nice. Thanks!

I have a couple friends there. It's a great school, especially for arts, and they are open to transfers. I think you will like it. There are all types of people there, you would have to find your type i suppose. It doesn't matter where you go for the purposes of medical school unless you plan on trying to form connections at NYU med, i guess. But overall, if you would be happier there, then your grades will reflect it. But Cat is right, this is not the really the place to ask. Google it or go for a visit if you can.

I went to NYU undergrad for vocal performance, so I can only help a little. My biggest warning is to think about your debt. I don't know how expensive your current school is, but NYU is incredibly expensive. And, later as a med student, there will be a lot more debt coming.

I also took genetics at NYU and it had over 300 people in it. I'm sure as a chemistry major you'd see class sizes shrink as you got into higher level courses, but that's still something to consider since yoi'll be needing letters of rec from science professors.

As for the people, I'm just not sure how to answer that. The people in my music program were awesome, but as for my gen ed courses, I never really met anyone there. But then I wasn't really trying either. It's a huge school - you're bound to find people you like!

Good luck!
