I transferred as an upperclassman from a small private to a large public with a medical school.

Both schools were in the same city
I already knew ppl at the medical school to do research, volunteer etc.

I went from social science to engineering and I transferred into a higher ranked school.

I also transferred for money.

I also took mol bio etc. with all A grades.

Committee letter was very high. I was asked but I had good reasons. What kind of crazy person transfers from English to engineering and does better in engineering? Again, I also knew ppl at the U.

You should have a good reason. Major change, money etc. Ppl will ask.

If you're transferring to a lower ranked school and keeping the same major, you should have a money argument. If not, tough luck.

I transferred between sophomore and junior year from small private to small private but my second school had a better premed program and I got awesome letters and was able to get involved much more at my second school. And it was closer to home.

I was never asked at any of my interviews why I transferred. But I would definitely prepare an answer just in case someone should ask. I don't think transferring hurts your chances especially if you transferred for a good reason.

I just wanted to know what your thoughts are on transferring as a pre-med? Does it hurt medical school applications or acceptances? Would interviews ask applicants why they transferred to a different institution, especially if it was of lower ranking than the previous college? When would you even consider transferring or recommend it??

Please reply asap!!!

Cost, change in major, stuff happened in your personal life which required you to be close to home, etc.

Any reason other than because you couldn't handle the level of difficulty of the coursework at the higher ranked institution.
