Hello my fellow pre-meders!
I am in my 4th year at my university and I want to transfer so badly. It's not my 4th year as in my last year but its my 4th year as in I have been here for four years. I'll be done school in 2 more years since I changed my major last year. The thing though is I hate my school. I really want to transfer to a school in the States where I'll enjoy it more.
A little about myself: I am a Neuroscience major and I just turned 22. I have well over a 100 credits and I can graduate in 5 semesters (4 if I wanted to). A lot of you will probably think that it is pointless to transfer at this point but to me it's not. I have always wanted to go to a US school but the costs would be crazy (I go to a Canadian university). But now that I am older, I can afford to go for 2 years.
Here is my plan for transferring:
1) Finish my fall and spring semester at my current school.
2) During fall semester, apply to schools for transferring.
3) Hopefully have a lot of my credits transfer over.
4) Write my MCAT during summer.
5) Apply to med schools for the 2011 year.
6) Start Fall Quarter/Semester at my new school.
If I do not get into med school for the 2011 year, I'll already be at that school and I'll just finish up my degree there and I'll apply for the 2012 year.
I want to go to a school that I will enjoy. I'm a huge sports fan and I love big schools. I spent a month and a half at UCLA and I absolutely loved it. In addition to UCLA, I plan on applying to:
University of Washington
University of Oregon
University of Arizona
Penn State University
UCSB
University of Illinois
Another reason why I want to transfer to a US school is that I want med school admission officers to see that I can do well at those respected schools. So for example, if I were admitted to UCLA, I want them to see that I can do well at UCLA.
So my questions are:
1) Do you think this is a good idea?
2) What other schools are transfer friendly?
3) Is my last notion of doing my last courses at a US school so that admission officers can see that I am capable of doing well at their school a correct notion?
I know this post is all over the place so I apologize for the messiness.
