Long story short, I told my super I'm interested in transferring to another part of the state within a year or so. He said he knows most of the supervisors in the general area I wanna go to, and that he will reach out to them and have someone 'hold' a spot for me. This talk was maybe a month ago. In the mean time, he's asked me to choose one metric and focus on it, so that I'll be a more competitive transfer. So far, so good.

But now, I hear through the grapevine that he's started looking for replacement for me Not sure of validity of this claim, or if it's just the early stages, but I don't wanna get caught with my (metaphorical) pants down. As a result, I'm wondering... how can I 'speed' this along? How do I go about contacting supervisors myself? Do I call the stores I'm interested in, and ask for super's contact info? If I find a good prospect, when do I let my super know? Sorry if some of these seem obvious, it's all kinda new to me.

If you get on star source it will show you the current job openings. Under "manager" it will say the district leader's name. That way you know who to contact.

How does transfering work anyways?
What if your current DM wants to keep you? Will you be stuck in that case?

I mean if he's looking to hire and train someone a year before you leave that sounds totally reasonable. I wouldn't worry unless you have been written up multiple times in the past year. I wouldn't contact District Leaders without your current Leader's knowledge as they tend to talk to each other and that will definitely happen if they want to gauge how good of an employee you are.

Ok. Reason I got nervous was because I heard a rumor that I’m transferring by summer, which seems earlier than what we discussed.

Our rph scheduler heard that I was interested in a transfer and my dm basically told me no when I brought it up. She advised me to go on to cvs.com basically star source and see what rph positions were available and to just apply she said the area I'm looking for is in high demand so they would take me.

Pretty sure he can't just transfer you without your consent first. Either way give him a time range to work with so you guys can both get what you want. What area you looking to move to?

Sounds like your DM is fine with you transferring but doesn't want to do any of the work to assist you. Fortunately I haven't had that issue yet and I've been in 3 districts in 4+ years
