transferring out after pgy 3

i'm sure this has been asked before, however…
can u leave psychiatry after pgy3 and finish pgy4 at another program, or do you have to do your last 2 years at the same program?
 
Yes, you can. But learning a different system in your elective year is no easy task, especially when you're also expected to guide the junior residents so keep that in mind as well.
 
Unlikely. Programs are much more open to 2's because they fill a service need. As a 4, at most programs you're just doing electives. No incentive to take you as a transfer.
