I am PGY-3 at program in Idaho. I am looking for PGY-4 25-26 spots that are available esp if PGY-3 are going to CAP fellowship. Willing to even switch with someone.
PD and APD approved the switch.
Reason for switching can be discussed after reaching out to me.

Would you still be good in eyes of ACGME for getting the full 4 years of psychiatry credit?

Might be creating a false rumor here, but for some reason I thought there was a 'last 18 months' or 'last 2 years' had to be at one program?

"The program must obtain verification of previous educational experiencesand a summative competency-based performance evaluation prior toacceptance of a transferring resident, and Milestones evaluations uponmatriculation. (Core)III.C.1. If previous ACGME-accredited education was not in a psychiatryprogram, residents may receive up to but no more than 12 months’ creditfor prior education as part of the expected 48 months of the educationalprogram. (Core)"
Straight from ACGME for Psy

The APA has a website dedicated for residency/fellowship vacancies but I do not know how often it is updated.

I know one of the Harvard programs (BWH? or was it BIDMC?) had some PGY4 openings in a previous cycle because CAP fast trackers but I don't know of anything for the following year.

The APA website no longer has the residency clearing house not sure why they stopped

I've recently seen a resident go from a small community program to an Ivy League program for PGY4. Sure there are plenty of spots out there especially with CAP fast-tracks siphoning off residents.

Make a list of 10 programs and cold call/email this week to see where that gets you.

Are you looking to stay in a particular geographic area? As others have said, there should be many openings due to fast-track CAP, as long as you don't need to transfer for some sketchy reason.

Might be beneficial for you to think specific geographies and programs - then reach out directly to programs where you want to be.

As others have said, many programs lose a few PGY4s for CAP. Won't know if a program wants to accommodate another resident without reaching out. Not super common for programs to post those openings unless they have call needs.

To be honest, I dont have any preference but I am in Idaho so somewhere close to Idaho state.
The reason I am switching is not sketchy and PD and APD and attending are on board with it.
