I was just wondering if anyone has heard of students transferring in and out to other pharm schools. I know it's possible for Med school students, but my friend at TX am so he doesnt think so because of the different courses...anyone?

I'm just asking in the case that I get admission to a school I dont really want to go to, and then try to transfer to my hometown 😉

It's very uncommon. Only about half of schools take t'fers. And, usually it requires a letter of good standing from your dean and a compelling reason. Even then, you won't get credit for courses that are not similar enough. And, often the curricula will be different enough to screw you over.

In short: don't count on transferring.

Thanks Banans..really though? I wonder what ever happened to the Louisiana victims that were transferred to other pharm schools..

I'm sure I could b/s a good reason..but I would hate to lose a year.

why are you considering transferring if your not in a pharmacy program yet. Why not apply to the school you want to go to?

It's in theory possible, but it is rarely done. Different schools have the courses in different orders.
The pharmacy school most effected by Katrina was Xavier.

If you're not willing to lose a year, then most likely the reason isn't good enough.
