So far, I have completed...
General Chemistry: completed 1 year
Organic Chemistry: completed 1 year
Biology: One semester completed (covered cell structure/function, respiration, photosynthesis, genetics, cell reproduction, evolution, and ecology)

I am transferring to another school and it looks like their Bio 1 class covers some of the things I covered in my Bio class and then animal form and function (what I did not learn). Also, new school's Bio 2 class covers some of what I covered in my Bio class and then plant biology form and function (what I did not learn).

I was wondering if just taking the Bio 2 class (relearning evolution, population genetics, and ecology with the addition of plant biology) when I transfer will be enough to satisfy the biology prerequisite for med school admission, or do I absolutely need to take the class covering animal form and function also??

Also, would substituting an upper division semester of biochemistry for my last semester of biology work?

I am trying to work out my next semester, so that is why I am asking this question. Thank you for the help

It's always good to contact a counselor asap. Check with the school on what they recommend if you can.

Hopefully someone else will chime in because I really don't know. Good luck to you.

1. You will need animal form and function (physiology) for the MCAT.

2. What portion of the sequence did your new university give you credit for? (I am assuming they gave you credit for the previous bio course taken). If they gave you credit for fulfilling the first half (the one covering animal form and function), there is no sense receving credit for the same course twicẹ. Maybe take an upper-level physiology course instead?

3. It doesn't sound like it'd be worth it to take Bio 2 at your new university. Plant bio isn't really useful for premeds. I *think* upper-level Bio courses can be substituted for Bio 1/2, but just in case, you should call up schools to ask.
