I am currently a junior at a state u and recently changed my major from bio to exercise physiology, so I am still taking the core classes for ex.phys and have completed all my pre-med reqs... Over winter break I applied to my 'dream' school which is more prestigious then my current institution (I was denied out of high school) and was accepted..Assuming I plan on staying in undergrad for a 5th year due to the change of major.. how would it look it med schools that I transferred so late into my college career??

thanks!

As long as it's justified, you should be fine. I transferred 4 times because of family/personal reasons, and had no problems at the DO schools I applied to. Just be sure to mention it in your application and relate it to your overall career goals.

So, if asked by an adcom "why'd you transfer so late?"... the answers I've always wanted to go there and it's a more prestigious school (the latter being my main reason) would be ok?

I'd actually like to see a more substantial reason than those. Perhaps spin it a little better:

1. The school has a better program for my major
2. Better ties to research/medicine/my career goals
3. Felt it would better prepare me for medicine due to X, Y, Z
4. Less costly (probably not true in this case, but if it is...)
5. Closer to my support system (family friends, if this is the case)

I agree, no one cares about the "prestige" of the college you went to. Awsome grades at a state school definately beat out good grades at a private school.
