My current school did not require gen bio 1/2 or any intro level courses. Went straight into cell bio/genetics/micro/etc.

However, the school I'm transferring to requires gen bio 2. I was told I would not be able to take any classes like micro without gen bio.

So only choice is for me to take gen bio 2 at my local community college over the summer. Not taking it at my current school because its much cheaper and my current 4year university does not offer a class that satisfies the gen bio 2 required by my new school.

I know colleges only look for 2 bio courses and never specifies which bio it needs to be... but would this possibly end up hindering my application when I apply to schools when they see I saw a gen bio 2 class over the summer at a community college instead of the full fall or spring load at a 4year institute?

I don't think this should hurt you. As long as you do well in your upper level bio's and have at least 2 to fulfill the requirement for most med schools and put together a competitive app, I doubt it would be an issue. I would highly doubt an adcom member would look at a competitive application and see that one bio class was at a comm college and immediately nix it. This is also something you could easily explain if asked about in an interview.

Do well in your upper level bio's and put together a competitive app, and this shouldn't hold you back at all.

I agree with eggs13. Easy to explain, and performing well in upper level bio classes should offset any negative effect of the CC course.
