I was wondering if anyone is considering going from medical school to pharmacy school? I know it's usually the other way around. I have a few questions regarding the transition.

Thanks!

It's nice to know I'm not the only one! :-D Have you been accepted to a pharmacy school yet? I'm not applying until next year. I was just wondering how hard do you think the Interviewers will be. I know why I am switching but I don't know if being a previous medical student would be a help or a hindrance.

My story is a bit different, as I am going from being a graduate student to becoming a pharmacy student. I'm finishing with my PhD first (hopefully... depending on how my thesis work goes!), but there was another grad student at my school that stopped with a Masters to go into a PharmD program. He successfully got in with little to no problems, as far as I know.

So, I don't think it's a problem to switch programs, as long as you did well in the pre-reqs and the PCATs and have a good explanation as to why you want to switch. Provided you haven't also quit a dental program and a PhD program before you went to med school... ;-)

Thanks Farscape Girl. I left the medical program a year ago so it wasn't a recent decision that I made last week lol. I just don't want to be blackballed or labeled. Considering we are all worried about this process, it's nice to know it shouldn't be too much of a problem considering I am prepared to discuss the desire to change careers.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Good Luck with your Ph.D.

I am going from Dental to Pharmacy. I will most likely not apply until next year but if any of you guys are thinking about applying this year there is a school in CA name Touro that do NOT require the PCATs and their deadline is Feb 2 2009.

Any ideas on how to study for the PCAT for Jan 24? I am trying to find someone that has taken the kaplan class so I can buy their books but I am having a hard time. What materials are you guys using? 🙂

I am using PCAT professor for Questions and review and there happens to be a girl in my microeconomics class who will be taking the PCAT this sat and will sell her kaplan book.

Check the PCAT forum. Different people swear different methods. Personally I'm reviewing the material and then do lots of questions. It's similar to studying for the DAT or MCAT.

I am very scared of the PCAT! I heard the DAT was easier and I took the DAT 8/2006 so its been a while...The MCAT is harder then the PCAT though so you should be fine! 😀 Thanks for your replies!
