Hi Everyone,
I am interested in translational research in the field of dermatology, -bench to bedside stuff. I have heard that that the hot-spots for this are at the major traditional research universities (e.g. UCSF etc). My dream would be to eventually work part-time in research which would focus on making a cream or working with drug companies to create a drug that would help cure some dermatological disease. I am looking for residency locations that would feed this dream. Any advice? Does your home program do alot of translational research? I imagine that the programs I am looking for likely maintain open interfaces with drug companies

Don't forget to keep your options open. Translational research can also relate to 'bench' to community if you do research in the public health realm.

From the preliminary research I've done on programs, it looks like UPenn and Michigan have strong research opportunities.

Although I am only a lowly second year, this is also an area I have a great deal of interest. If any of you older derm people have any advice regarding this, it would be greatly appreciated.
