traveling after applying

Hey everyone,

I'm still about one year away from applying, and am trying to set up a rough timeline for myself. I already have a BS in bio but went back to school this past fall to take the DPT pre-reqs. I have 3 more pre-reqs to finish this year, plus the GRE and gaining some more observation hours.

Anyway, after I finish my pre-reqs next June and send out my applications I really would like to travel for about 3-6 weeks. If anyone has done this I would love some advice!

I am also curious when most schools hold interviews so I can get a rough idea of which months to travel and which to avoid traveling during.

I'm open to all types of advice and/or criticism. As someone who has yet to go through the application process, I am not sure how realistic this idea is.

Interviews occur at some schools as early as October and at some schools as late as March. The majority happen mid-November to late February. For each school you want to apply to, if it doesn't clearly say when their interviews are, you can call them and they can easily tell you. There are also schools that don't do interviews at all, some that do Skype interviews and some that have rolling admissions and so the interviews will take place a little bit at a time over the course of a number of months (first to apply is usually first to interview). Like I said, just contact each school of interest to get the timeline regardless.

If you are planning to submit your application quickly after PTCAS opens on July 1st, then I don't see why traveling in July and August would be a problem. I have never heard of an interview happening that early. Maybe there is an odd one here or there in late August at a rolling admissions school, but other than that I don't see the problem.
