Traveling in May towards the end of app cycle?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am currently planning a 2-3 week trip out of US to visit family members and travel in early/mid May (potentially later as need be), but I am in the midst of MD and DO app cycle. Before I start actually planning/purchasing flight tickets, I wanted to know if it's a bad idea to be physically unavailable towards the end of the cycle (I will have my laptop and would be "electronically" available with family members available for aid in US).

I am specifically worried about it because I still have zero interview invite, am not a super competitive applicant, and thus am expecting later interview invites, if any. My understanding is that most interviews will have finished by mid April, but I just want to confirm there wouldn't be an unexpected thing in May or so.

First time applicant from CA, LizzyM 68. I applied 28 MD (mostly low tier, secondaries submitted Aug/Sept) and finishing up secondaries for 6 DO programs. Two rejections and silence from the rest so far.
It's not impossible to get an interview for after April. More typically, May is when you get off waitlists if you've already interviewed. It's too soon to assume you won't be on any by then. I'd be concerned if you were not available by phone to receive an acceptance offer, though you could leave your phone and an algorithm with a trusted family member to cover that means of contact.

Oh I see. I did not know they would offer an acceptance ONLY through a call towards the end of the cycle. Would it be a bad idea to reach out to my hypothetical waitlist schools and give them a secondary phone contact info to my family member?

Either way, it sounds like traveling 2-3 weeks in May is a no-go. Would traveling in June still be discouraged?

Wondering about this too. Does anyone know if we can leave an email for medical schools to contact for waitlist results?

1) I can't promise that no other mechanism is used.

2) On the AMCAS application you can enter any time and change contact information.

3) One can get off the wait list by phone call anytime up to the day after classes start.
