hey all- what do ppl usually wear to the student-dinner for the tri-i interview...or to any non-formal setting at an interview in general?
thanks for the advice

As long as you (1) don't look like a slob and (2) don't wear a suit you will be fine. I usually wear jeans and a nice long-sleeve shirt or khakis and a polo... but that is as dressy as I would recommend.

Sometimes I wear jeans, sometimes slacks... always a "nice" shirt (ie. not a t-shirt). One school did tell us not to wear jeans to dinner, but otherwise jeans seem okay.

Just to allay any apprehensions:

If there is a student dinner on thursday night (there isn't always, i'm not sure what is going on this interview date), wear whatever you'd like, casual or dressy is up to you.

For the friday lunch/dinner - many people will have just come from the Friday Lecture or interviewing, so there will be many in suits/interview attire, which is completely fine. If you would like to change at some point before the dinner, feel free, but note that the Griffith Faculty Club requires business casual.

You will have an opportunity to change after dinner before going out with the students. Good luck; it's a long but fun day, from what I remember.

To the OP, check your e-mail. Ruth Gotian just sent instructions for how to dress for each portion of the interview schedule.

Oh great. When are they gonna reject the rest of us? :scared:

I can't wait to see you guys there. Whoever my roommate is, I am gonna totally ask you if you checked this thread to see what to wear to bed with me.

 Well, unless they're doing co-ed rooms, it won't be me.

Who thinks there's still a chance to get a Tri-I interveiw? I hope so. Even if they call me on Thursday, I'd fly the 3000 mi. to get there.
