Trouble finding Pediatrics AIs/electives

I'm a third-year DO student planning to go into Pediatrics, but having trouble finding away rotations for the fall. I live in CA currently, but am open to rotations in different states. I've applied via VSAS to several peds AIs/subspecialty electives, but have had no luck whatsoever. Most of the have been listed as "Pending Host Institution Review" for weeks (or even months!). If you try to contact the site, calls aren't returned/e-mails aren't answered. Any advice or suggestions of places that might have an open slot?

i'm a D.O. student applying to med/peds this year and i was able to set up a peds sub-i at CHOP (philadelphia) without any problem. they don't use VSAS and the application is a bit of a pain, but i'm pretty excited about getting the opportunity to rotate at such a top-notch institution. good luck!

@bonsaipalmtree - I just confirmed my away subspecialty rotation this week through VSAS. Previous to this, I hadn't heard from them since applying in March! So definitely don't give up there!

It's also a busy time of year for the program administrators who set these things up. Between having to provide lots of credentialing info for graduating residents and having new interns come for orientation, there's a lot for the administrative staff to take care of in June.
