True difference between 4 OMFS DDS and DDS MD?

What does going the DDS MD route do for you... as in how does it benefit you. Is it just the prestige... because that is not of interest... I am assuming there is much more considering its an extra 2 years so if anyone could explain please do.

my suggestion is to post this question in the dental forum since most of us pre-dents here haven't even gotten into dental school yet.

Your going to read a lot from both professionals from either the 4 or 6 year programs and how they "differ".

also if you want to get more insight about OMFS, always look for gary_ruska's posts, he is always lurking around the dental and residency forums (he is the 2nd response in that thread I posted above). He is DDS/MD OMFS attending, sarcastic as hell in his comments and always refers to himself in 3rd person, but nonetheless very knowledgeable about OMFS
