I read this in another thread and I was wondering if this was actually true??
UCI and UC Davis do not take DO medical students. I don't know about ucla.

"SDN just told me something. But I'm not sure how true it is. See, I'm intellectually skeptical...
...Hang on, Imma go ask SDN."
I read it from one person on SDN on a totally irrelevant thread who definitely did not represent the SDN in its entirety, but now I am asking SDN and making a thread out of it to see what others may know about it.
Yes someone from my school matched their IM program too and he rotated there as well... but UCI just stopped taking DO students for aways this year.one of my classmates, from touro-NY, matched IM at UC-Irvine this year; I think she rotated there as well.

Vsas is a service 4 year med students, MDs and DOs, use to set up electives. Not every hospital uses VSAS, but many do. When you search for a particular elective, you can filter which ones are open to DOs and which are not. UCI offers many electives, but none to DOs. UCLA doesn't use VSAS.
Lol this is pretty funny considering UCI's history.
Is there a trend of fewer and fewer placing taking DO's for electives? Or is it just UCI? Either way, it sucks. Once again California shows us how progressive and laid back it is.
