I gave one of my pharmacists my personal statement to write my LOR.
He'll be filling out those extra evals that schools require (another one is writing to PharmCAS). But I thought I would give it to him for a better idea to evaluate me.

But it wasn't until then that I felt a bit worried...

My personal statement (although not sure how good it is compared to other PS) is of course very very private. Plus, he’s very chill.
They are not academic professors, who mostly understand (depending on experience) not to share something this personal with anyone.

In any case, does anyone feel that your pharmacist might share your PS with anyone else? Or was worried about it too?

If so, how would you ask them, "uh, please don't show that to anyone" who out insulting them or being rude.

did it say something about your carrot and riding crop fetish or something?

geez how personal is your personal statement really?? My whole family read mine and made comments.

If you don't want your pharmacist knowing about the dead gerbils clogging up the commode in your dorm room... do you really want adcoms knowing about it either?

and for the record... I would trust a pharmacist, ANY pharmacist, to know and understand a hell of a lot more about privacy and keeping personal info to themselves than some college professor.

Yeah, I have to agree. Although your personal statment should be "personal", it should not be so private that you are terrified to have anyone read it. In fact, if you want to make sure its halfway decently written, you should have at least 2 people aside from yourself review it for content, grammer, language, etc. If youre so scared that you can't show it to anyone else to get feedback, do you really want adcoms reading it? And if its not that private, then youre just worrying too much. Pharmacists all applied to pharmacy school too...they know what a personal statment is, and they know what privacy is. I would NOT remind them to keep it private. I would be insulted if someone wanted me to write a LOR, but felt they couldnt even trust me with their PS.

yea okay. that's true. nevermind.

Your personal statement can be as personal as you want to make it.

You can disclose whatever you want in your PS - as it is protected by FERPA. For those of you who do not know what FERPA is - it is a Law, not unlike HIPPA, that governs the use and misuse of student academic records. It covers all of the material in your pharmacy application. Thus, I cannot go and talk about your PS to anyone that does not already have business reading it.

Your pharmacist should know what to do, and most likely he'll just write your lor and move on..

I can't imagine the pharmacist reading your lor, and then going home to his family, screaming- "look at the tech's that we have at the pharmacy, hahahaha, they're so ridiculous."
