trying to figure out where I stand

i guess everyone on here walks out of the exam thinking that they aced it? 🙁

i'm just really disappointed bc i dont feel like my game day performance reflects how i was scoring on the practice tests or questions. the test was much harder than anything i had encountered with the qbanks or NBMEs.

I marked about 10-15 questions on most sections...

that's what i was hoping would happen for me, because that would be more indicative of how i felt when i was doing the nbmes, but instead it was like 17 QS per block. ughh i just hope that the massive sleep deprivation didnt interfere with the questions i thought i might have gotten right 🙁

i kinda felt that way too. i felt like i marked too many questions. and i thought 3 of my blocks were pretty tough too. but try not to think abt the exam too much now. i'm sure you did well. in fact, a lot of people i've talked to feel like this. so its a natural feeling. just enjoy the fact that you're done and worry about the score in 3 weeks.

just of out curiosity, when you say you marked too many questions, how many were you marking per block?

i'm in freak out mode right now-i'm even wondering if i passed at this point. hopefully my test was just one of the harder ones out there and my score will still turn out ok...

i felt good about my last 3 blocks and wanted to feel that way about the rest of the test, which i definitely didnt 🙁

I marked about 10 per block on average. This is not to say I was sure about all the remaining questions I did not mark. "Feeling" is a very poor indicator of how you do on the test. I've read so many anecdotes about "OMFG I FAILLLEDDDD" to "oh I got a 250." And a few sadly "I destroyed it" to "damn I got a 220." So it's very varied. If you completed the exam, studied hard, did well on practice tests...there's no reason why you won't shoot close to the practice tests.

thanks for the words of encouragement. i guess my freaking out is just stemming from the lack of sleep that accompanied my seemingly extra difficult test. i worry that i wasn't thinking clearly. i guess the only thing i can take comfort in is that at least i finished all blocks with time to spare and check over my work. the rest i think will just be luck. really hope i didn't fail cuz i don't know how i would recover from that.

ya, i marked about 10-12 per block. i think marking is subjective. some people mark questions they absolutely don't know and some mark if they have even little doubt about it. so don't think too much into how much you marked. as vicinihill said, if you studied hard, then you're going to do well. good thing is that you're done. a lot of people freak out after the exam and most of that is because they're thinking about the exam too much. so just try to relax and take your mind off it.

thanks for the positive thoughts, vicinihil and IMnotgivingup.

i can beat myself up about the lack of sleep thing, but unfortunately that would have been the case on any day that i took the exam since it was completely attributable to anxiety.

i'm going to try to erase the exam from memory for the next coupla weeks and focus on the much deserved chillaxing

Yes I agree with everyone else. If you studied really hard, did well on practice tests, did well on UWorld, went through FA inside and out...you'll be fine = )

I feel like I read that everywhere too..Its just how everyone feels after the exam. But if you know you studied your best and hardest nothing else you can do about it right now besides have fun!! go out with your friends, watch movies, eat, go on a vacation lol
