I was looking through the amcas application, and realized that I don't know the first step to reapplying!

Do I have to withdraw my previous application and then fill in the old shell with new information? Or is there an option to create a fresh application?

Will withdrawing my application cause the waitlists I am currently on to drop me? Or are they different entities?

I don't really know how to make a new application and can't seem to find topics specific to my inquiry in the search, any help would be appreciated!

Step 1: Withdraw application
Step 2: ...
Step 3: Acceptance!

But seriously, they are separate things. You have to make a new one, but some of your biographic data populates when you sign into the 2012 one. Also, I hear there is more stuff to fill out this year 🙁

The application for the 2011-2012 cycle should be separate from your 2010-2011 application. [ETA: what Hoya2009 said.]

You have to start a new one for the 2011-2012 cycle. The login page is connected to a different URL than this years. Your AMCAS ID will stay the same and like Hoya said, some of the info from this cycle will be auto populated into the new one you make, so double check that it's still correct.
