1.Upon ovulation in female humans, the oocye it release into :
Oviduct, ovary, body cavity and others which don't apply.. I went with oviduct coz that is where the eggs i thought were released, but Body Cavity is the answer,, Anyone who has a good explanation please share.
2.What contains phosphodiester bonds? amino acids??
3.Disulfide bonds are found in__________? my guess proteins.
4.DNA--->mRNA( 3-5' or 5-3')
5. mRNA-->trna(Translation)(3'-5')or (5'-3')
6. A woman carries sex linked lethal gene that causes spontaneous abortions.She has 6 children and how mnay of the them do you expect to be boys? Answer: 2 .. but HOW?

wikipedia a picture of the ovary and the fallopian tube. once ovulation occurs, the oocyte kinda just bursts into the "cavity" where the fimbria (correct me on this term), those fingerlike projections kinda sucks the oocyte into the oviduct.

2. nucletides such purines/pyr
3. in amino acid cysteine, your hair are held together by disulfide bonds, also feathers.
4.5 to 3
5. not sure.....
6.....

I think it is released into the body cavity for a small time then the fallopian tubes grab em with their cilia and take the egg to the uterus.

Graafian follicle releases it into the body cavity then the fallopian tube pulls it in with its cilia.

2.What contains phosphodiester bonds? amino acids??
phosphodiesterase..?? this enzyme/protein degrades cAMP to AMP
cAMP ---[phosphodiesterase] -->> AMP

3.Disulfide bonds are found in__________? my guess proteins.
3' and 4' structured proteins. I have no idea how I know this

4.DNA--->mRNA( 3-5' or 5-3')
Word it correctly? DNA polymerase moves 5-3
while mRNA is made 3-5

5. mRNA-->trna(Translation)(3'-5')or (5'-3')
mRNA is read from 5-3, remember everything attaches to its start AUG codon on the 5' end. This is important

I just tried this and got 3 boys..
So can't help you here

#6: If you do a punnett square for a hetezygous women and a normal heterozygous man.......> 8 is the total number of their offspring. Since each birth is an individual event, half the offspring can be girl and the other half (4) boys. The women carries a X-linked lethal gene, so half of the boys have a chance of getting the lethal X......>will be aborted. The number of uneffected boys left is 2.

I hope this helps.

ohh Thanks Doa. 🙂. You made alot more sense, I was still working on the Punnent square..

Makes sense, but this isn't a very good problem either. The man can also be infected, which will change the whole ratio of things since he'll give his infected X to the daughters..and they'll die..which means you have to do some math to get exactly 6 kids.

Can someone further explain this/

I read somewhere (I think.... in Kaplan course...not sure) that if the question is not talking about the other person, we have to assume normal.
Is that right? any one?

Ok here is how 6 works....the woman carries the sex linked trait which is only expressed in her sons (females are masked since father does not carry trait). One out of every two of her boys ill be spontaneously aborted (based on a punnet square) leaving a total of 3 offspring. We know that she has 6 kids total (multiply progeny by punnet square by 2). As a result, since half of the progeny are boys (2 out of 4), and one half are aborter (1 out of 2) than leaves behind 2 boys.

Hope this makes sense......I think what you are missing is multiplying the punnet square by 2..do that and im sure it will make sense
