The M/F ratio at Touro is something I'm very interested in. When I called the infamous Quality Inn to reserve a room for my interview (this was back in Nov), the guy responded "Are you making this reservation for you?" I said "Yes." He said, "oh . . . I thought it was a woman college, you're the FIRST guy to get a room here for Touro."
At my interview, their were 9 woman and 2 men, including myself. So I asked the QI shuttle bus driver, "What would you say the ratio of women to men that you drive here is?" Without missing a beat he says, "10 women for every man."
I was shocked. I think this in some weird phenomenon happening at Touro, where when more women then men are applying. I think a very high percepntage of the people they've accepted thus far are women and . . . at this late date, they are trying to make up for it by interviewing almost ALL men. Otherwise, the imbalence would be even more pronounced than last year.
Being a guy, I of course feel lucky. Its odd. Touro has the highest F/M ratio of ANY medical school. And I think it has to do with applicants, not some school policy. Does this stike anyone as odd?
