I know there has been talk on here about both of these schools individually but I was wondering if people would offer an opinion on these two schools when compared to each other. I would love to be in Colorado and was impressed with RVU at the interview/what they have been able to do in two years, but am still a little worried about the future implications of graduating from there. Touro is a little more established but I have also heard some negative things about them that worries me a little. Since neither school is the top D.O. school, any thoughts on which may be better in the long run? Thanks!

Long time reader, first time poster. I'd go with Touro-CA in this case. One of the most important parts of med school is the rotations. Touro-CA has established rotations in a great medical community - San Fran area. I don't think RVU has even had a class go through rotations, correct? That could be a risk. Also, what about board scores? How were Touro's? RVU's?

Good luck and congrats!

I second this advice.

If you search for some more threads on this forum regarding TouroCA clinical rotations, you'll see they have quite a lot of problems.... it may just be the result of a few vociferous, disgruntled former students... but it was enough for me to not apply there.

As for RVUCOM, aside from all the controversy surrounding the school's for profit status... apparently they have secured decent clinical rotations..I only know this from hearsay that I've read on SDN, so take that with a grain of salt..

If my options were between the 2 of the above, I'd go to Touro simply because they've been around longer, therefore residencies in the area will have at least heard of the school, and taken a few of their grads as residents.

It really depends on what you're looking for.

I don't know anything about Touro. But I also don't know anything negative about RVU yet. There's plenty of speculation, but until we take boards in a couple months and start rotations in a few months, it's really tough to say what exactly will happen.

However, you've seen both schools, you've talked to students at both schools, now you need to decide what is important to you and where you think you'll be happiest for 4 years.

Good luck!
