TUCOM-LV and LECOM-FLorida...Competitive?

In the broad scheme of things, LECOM as far as I know is not one of the more competitive DO schools to get into. Now, you also must realize that LECOM has three learning pathways, each with its own selectiveness. Since LDP is the default pathway, it has a wide range of people and most admissions statistics about LECOM come from the data of those in this pathway. PBL(which is what will be in FL) and ISP are more selective because of small class sizes and large applicant pools.
I would say that being granted an interview shows that you're competitive and if you select PBL and have good stats, you have a good shot at either school. LECOM may be desperate to occupy spots in FL which may reduce the overall competitiveness initially. I honestly can't tell you for sure.

so here is what I know about TUCOM - Las Vegas...
#1) It is slated/approved to open this fall with a class size of 75 students
#2) It was just recently that this approval was granted (i.e. after TUCOM began requesting supplemental applications for students applying for admission for the class of 2008). Since this approval, all the secondaries that TUCOM sends out now have a two boxes at the top, requesting the applicant to select which school the secondary is meant for. A selection must be made in order for the application to be processed.
#3) Next year, TUCOM - Las vegas will be a stand alone university; specifically it will have its own office of admissions. it is only in this inugural year that TUCOM - Mare Island will be involved with their admissions process.
#4) Although only students that received secondaries after the approval of the Las Vegas site have the oppurtunity to apply to the Las Vegas campus specifically, all those accepted previous to the approval will have the option of going to the Las Vegas campus. Unless I am mistaken, Dr. Haight and the rest of the adcom will first fill the Mare Island class... they will then offer those who were accepted previous to the approval of the Las Vegas site the chance to switch campuses. They will then go back and re-fill up the Mare Island class, and then conclude by filling the Las Vegas class. Furthermore, sometime before the Las Vegas class is filled, those on the waitlist for Mare Island will be offered a chance to take a seat at the Las Vegas site.
So now the question is, does this increase the chance of one getting accepted into med school? From everything I just typed, I am inclined to say yes, especially with the premise of those on the waitlist eventually getting the chance to secure a seat at Las Vegas... Alternatively, the addition of the 75 seats will just increase the number of people that given secondaries and/or interviews, so it that respect, in is just a wash, right?
But more seats is more seats, so good luck everyone...
