Hi fellows,
I have been very blessed to have an acceptance at TUCOM-NEVADA. When I visited the faculty, students and the administration staff was great. However, I have an interview scheduled for AZCOM for April 5.... Should I go to the interview? Can anybody more experienced with the school give me some pros and cons? I know TUCOM-NEVADA is really expensive to attend and they don't offer any scholarships. Does AZCOM offers any scholarships to out of staters?
Thank you.
God Bless.

AZCOM has been around awhile longer and is more well established as a result. I would go check it out, because it is in a nice location, and is a nice school. Most of the people at AZCOM are from out of state.

Kidgorgeous, you should explore and exhaust all options. Weigh all the pros and cons and reflect on what you truly believe to be the better fit. How can you make a well informed decision, unless you explore both schools?
AZOM actually costs more than TUCOM (www.aacom.org).

TUCOM info: http://www.aacom.org/colleges/tucom.asp

Look at what other influences may occur. TUCOM Nevada is the only medical school in Southern Nevada, where TUCOM Nevada has full potential to grow with all of the hospitals in Southern Nevada. TUCOM is a Non-Profit School, while AZCOM is For-Profit. Look at where your money goes. See if the students are happy, and look into available rotations, whether or not you will have to travel a lot during your third and fourth years, etc. As you already know, in Nevada, you will not have to travel outside of Southern Nevada for your clerkships, but you can choose to if you want to.

AZCOM will also be dealing with allopathic competition (New allopathic medical school is being created , and AZCOMs students are excluded from some allopathic hospitals in Arizona. http://www.acponline.org/journals/news/nov97/osteopat.htm

Man! With God's blessing I just got an interview invite from COMP today too. I already have a coming interview at AZCOM, and as I mentioned I have an acceptance at TUCOM-NEVADA. I am literally broke and I am not sure if I can afford $500 trips to these place. Should I really go? TUCOM-NEVADA is a good school with great staff and student body but I am a little skeptical about them still designing the new curriculum. Please let me know if you will pick AZCOM or COMP over TUCOM-NEVADA>
thanks.

medicine1,

What's this about TUCOM being non-profit? I always assumed it was for-profit. Do you have a link or reference?
