i received an acceptance letter by mail yesterday (not email- snail mail). i dont think they email formal letters like these ever. its always in writing, in black and white!! classes start as usual in april '05 (so lots of time to party! 😀 ). we have some instalments of fees to pay up. they send u all the details with the acceptance letter.

sandhu my stats are someplace on this forum.

i got some PMs but thought it would be better to post the answers here so it helps a few others too:

yes i do have experience here in the US- voluntary since i dont get paid.

i sent in all document copies after getting them notarized. i feel its safer that way.

i had a consolidated marks transcript issued by my college signed by the principal, and i sent that along with the degree cert, wes/ece, and copies of marks sheets issued by the university.

i dont think visa status matters although if u are a GC holder or permanent resident it would make it easier (i am neither).

and yes TUFTS requires both part 1 and part 2 scores - they told us that if anyone has taken only part 1 and applied, they might be interviewed but they need the part 2 score before they can send u the acceptance letter.

Is this consolidated mark transcript-compulsory?..I mean won't the marksheets alone will not be sufficient? 😕
Is a long , time & money consuming job for me to get a transcript from my school now 🙁

during ur interview,how much do u think ur volunteering experience in the US mattered to them do u think they give it a lot of importance...?I did ask a couple of dentists around here if they let me volunteer but they werent really willing ....

Incase your uni doesn't issue consolidated marksheets/ transcripts you can send them your marksheets...As far as I know, It doesn't make a difference.

I just wanted to know about what you have mentioned in your post regarding consolidated marks card or transcript..
Were all the 4 years of BDS included in one single transcript ?
Since you mentioned that your collage principal has signed this transcript ...Does the college in india ( office staff)get it all typed in their collage letter head and then issue this transcript?
Was this transcript issued to you on request?..Do you have to submit all your photocopies notarised from USA to the school in India...then only they issue this transcript?
How long did they take to issue this to you .?
Since I do not have this single transcript, I would have to ask my Dad in india to go to my dental collage and do the needfull
Kindly do post your inputs ..it would help me and others who Im sure are in the similar position.

to answer some of the questions:

i dont think the consolidated marks sheet is really necessary. i sent it along since i had it. no school actually asked for it. yes it was on the school letterhead, and signed by the princi.

my stats are 94 part 1 (paper based) and 88 part 2 (CBT). GPA 3.89 and TOEFL 293. [as u can see its nothing outstanding- i think they look at the whole application].

yes i do think volunteer work counts a lot since it shows your continued interest in the field.

mandakki in reply to your message, no i dint retake any exam. i took each exam only once and that was more than enough!! 😀 i guess u must have mistaken me for someone else, since there are a lot of users with names starting with "tooth"!!! i took the paper-based part 1 in 2003 and scored 94. and i am not from GDC. hope i have cleared up the misunderstanding. 🙂
