Here is another random comparison question.
What do you think?
Tufts vs. Einstein?

Don't you just want to be able to say that you go to Einstein? And live in the Bronx (and be less than 40 minutes from Manhattan via the Express Bus that stops right outside of the gate at the AE apartment complexes)? If that's not enough, here's some data for dataheads.

AECOM: research 38, primary care 31, tuition $43,579 (that is random)
TUSM: research 42, primary care 57, tuition $39,800 (more round)

PLUS AECOM has really great housing, incredible clinical training throughout your medical schooling. And my friend at TUSM says it's pretty uppity. AECOM definitely did not give me that impression. OH, and AECOM has INCREDIBLE international options. So yeah, any way you look at it AECOM!!!

i'm pretty sure Tufts is more expensive than AECOM

Einstein, no doubt about that. I can GUARANTEE you that's a better choice and for a variety of reasons.

O.K. Albert Einstein, the greatest physicist who ever lived against Mr. Tufts?
Duh? Who do you think is smarter. Albert would destroy Tufts in theoretical physics. And Albert was much better looking.

EINSTEIN hands down.

seriously, i had a wonderful experience there. the faculty are friendly and approachable. housing is affordable and there are great international health opportunities. you also rotate in some of the best hospitals in new york city!

Is Einstein associated with Beth Israel? I used to volunteer there years ago and I remember seeing a sign for it. If so, I'd say Einstein cause Beth Israel's a great place to be!

what about the tufts community - whats that like?

it seems pretty decentralized - with everybody living all throughout boston
boston is a pretty great city, but it almost seems Tufts is a semi-commuter school

also Tufts is rated 3.6 in residency director evaluations whereas AE is 3.4

however when i interviewed at AE - my host told me that he heard that AE is respected by residencies almost as highly if not more than schools like cornell and columbia in new york state at least, because they know the quality of AE clinical experience

however that doesn't hold for out of state residencies

finally - just general impression of people that i met - in AE they seemed a little more on edge, stressed, haha defensive about not being in a top tier, whereas in tufts they seemed more relaxed - but of course thats from meeting only less than ten people in each school

Go with Einstein, if only because New York >>>>>> Boston.

They both have famous Alums: Dr. Rey (aka Dr. 90210) graduated from Tufts, and Howard Dean from Einstein.

THat's a good reason to not go to either of those schools

But Boston >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Bronx

Beth Israel Deaconess is in Boston and associated with Harvard.

anybody definitely going to either Tufts or Albert Einstein and care to share why?

I'll say you should go to Einstein. This way, there might be more room for me to get off the active consideration list at Tufts. But it is a good problem to have. Sorry I can't help you much.

einstein all the way dont go to tufts, dont even think about it the price is absurd for the education they provide

its not like einstein is cheap, but tufts is more expensive. I've gotta say Tufts is the better school, nicer area, better facilities, great education, all that.

Well Newsweek doesnt think so, it rates albert einstein higher then tufts

38. Yeshiva University (Einstein) (NY) -----$37,550

41. Wake Forest University (NC)

42. Tufts University (MA) -----43,014

Keeping in mind as well all, that students at AE have a signifigantly less debt after school then TUFTS students, they give more aid. So you cannot claim tufts to be bettter in education or even as a better school.

i think it comes down to personal preference, i mean, they're both ranked in the same area, and i can't deny that, or that aecom is a great school, they both have their advantages, in reality, they're very hard to segregate from one another, tough choice if it came down to those two.

I just withdrew from both... but withdrawing my acceptance from AECOM was MUCH harder... 🙁

tufts!! because it's in boston =)

So, I am currently deciding between these two myself. I am in undergrad in NYC right now and I love it. Here is my breakdown:

1. Tufts >>> Einstein in terms of location even though I love New York. It takes quite a while to get into downtown Manhattan from Einstein and yes the Express Bus is great, but it will take me about 1:30 minutes to get back late at night... So... I can never really go out without crashing at friends' apartments

2. Einstein is better in terms of basic research and they've got that fancy new building (But i don't want to do any basic research anyway...)

3. I still don't want to leave New York and maybe I will suck it up and commute.

And whoever asked earlier, Beth Israel is part of Einstein, I volunteered there too.

Einstein. I forgot which but there are two subways that go into Manhatten right near Einstein (5 minute bus ride away), and they take less than an hour.

Also, Einstein has better housing and slightly better weather.

Living (at best) an hour outside of a city is completely different from living inside of one. I think this should be clear... And, again, late-night the public transportation options are pretty slim...

Not like I know what side I really stand on in this debate, but I think its worth pointing out.

Its true Boston >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bronx.

Compare to Manhattan, the Bronx is a dump. I'd pick Tufts.

I'd lean towards the school with a better financial aid package.

If money isn't an issue, go where you'd be happiest (ie. lifestyle) and more likely to succeed.

Not only because it is IN Boston, but also because it is NOT IN New York. 👎

Honestly, worked with a lot of Tufts students, they are all very happy, content and seem easy going. Kind of classmate I'd like to have.

I would definitely say AECOM >> Tufts. Tufts is an AMAZING place as well, but I feel is there is absolutely not way to justify the cost of Tufts (this past year it was THE MOST (#1) expensive medical school in the country.

Sigh. I'm hoping to get some aid from Einstein, didn't get anything really from Tufts. This might partly be my fault, since I turned in their financial aid application embarrassingly late. Maybe I can cajole them into giving me some more though...
