Do you agree?

definitely tufts.

p.s. i'm not at all biased hehe

There are many threads but not many address specific reasons to choose between Tufts and BU. Please specify thread.

Thanks Zanderale6

that's what he was talking about....each thread contains an abundance of "tufts is better than BU" or "BU is better than tufts"... enjoy reading :)

What are you thanking me for, buckwalt? Is that sarcasm I detect? ... Hmmm. ... Well, I guess there's only one way to deal with this situation. ... I'll need to give you a reason for thanking me. Here goes ...

Step 1: THE QUEST BEGINS

Go to "Search" in the SDN tool bar ...

Step 2: THE FIRST GREAT CHALLENGE

Scroll down through the options and select "Advanced Search" ...

Step 3: :scared:THE TRICKY PART:scared:

Under "Search Options," make sure that " only the "Pre-Dental" forum is highlighted ...

Step 4: CHOOSE YOUR TARGET ... WISELY

Just above the "Search Options" section, try entering "BU" and "Tufts"

Step 5: A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

Before hitting the return/enter key on your keyboard, make sure that you click on the little option box directly under where you entered the search terms is switched from "Search Entire Posts" to "Search Titles Only."

Step 6: LA FIN

Conduct your search by hitting return/enter ...

If you follow these six easy steps, you should be able to bring up any and all the information you should like on the topic. Here's a few examples of what I've found:

THREAD NUMBER ONE

THREAD NUMBER TWO

THREAD NUBER THREE

THREAD NUMBER FOUR

If you want to get really crazy, you could always try searching for just "Tufts," or just "BU" and see what comes up. Hours and hours and hours of fun await you here on SDN!

Thanks, buckwalt.

No Zanderale6 I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, just thought you might have found a useful thread I missed. Guess not. I appreciate your compassionate lesson. Hope you are just as nice to your future patients. It would have been less effort and much more considerate to have just listed the threads.

I'm with buckwalt on this one it is hard to find info on this site unless you are really familiar with navigating through all the useless stuff people write. I really didn’t think that it was sarcastic at all Zanderale6.

When deciding between schools I was faced with the same question. I asked dentists I knew as well as patients, and all seemed to agree that tufts had a better reputation. BU is getting better and maybe in a few years it's going to be reguarded as good as tufts or maybe better. Who knows. Just go where you felt most comfortable and where you feel you will be able to succeed. There is just a very fine line between the two.

If you want to be a general dentist and remain in MA then I think that Tufts would probably be nice for you. I am from Indiana, and all of our students that are not likely to get into IUSD or other schools are told to apply to Tufts because they tend to accept people with lower DAT scores and GPA. Now this doesn't mean the school is bad because I have friends that have gotten into the school, and it is very well known in MA. However, elsewhere the reputation might not be as great or even matter. They both are accredited dental schools which is most important, and the dentists that graduate from them both are not killing people. Go where you are going to feel most comfortable.

i have a 3.6 GPA and 22 DAT scores and have yet to receive an invite at tufts..... by no means are they interviewing people with "low stats"..

i agree that both are reputable schools; however, one is not more prestigious than the other. you're making it sound as if tufts has the reputation of producing GP's while BU produces specialists... not true at all.

jb!:)

tufts is well known far outside of mass, fyi

HAHA!!!

I am not saying that at all...I am just letting you know that I know ppl who have 16s and 17s that got in this year, but they haven't gotten into BU...I don't know why they have not interviewed you...plus scores are not everything...they don't tell you about the program at a particular school. I was simply speaking a truth and letting you know that ppl in different places think differently about every school. In other words...you can't ask someone which school you should go to because nobody knows what school will fit best for you.

Oh yeah and about the specialists vs. GP thing...I was only telling you what the students from MA interviewing with me at BU were saying...and it wasn't because they were biased because they really wanted to go to Tufts.
