I am an international student and got accepted into Tufts and Buffalo.I would really appreciate anyones's advice on which school to go to.

The cost of both the schools comes out to be the same for me.so cost is not really a factor.I know about location and weather. What I am concerned is

1) Do all the students get their own chair?
2) clinical skills : which school has a better name for producing strong clinicians?
3)Not that I want to,but which one has better options for specialization?

I know the pros but can anyone tell me the cons of both the programs?Thank you so much for your time.

Both schools are known for producing some of the strongest clinicians, but I know for a fact that at Buffalo you get your own chair.

BTW are you Canadian? I heard Tufts has a RC (DAT reading comprehension) cut-off for international students? May I ask what was your RC score?

Thanks for the prompt response.I am not a Canadian and did not give my DAT.I got admitted into the international program with my board scores and other stats.

Any more advice anyone?

UB is admitting around 40-50 internationally trained dentist during my 3rd year and most likely yours if you come to UB. I am a D1 and was told that UB gets their own chairs.....not likely anymore. The two major advantages to UB were 1)Cost and 2)Own chair. Now, OOS went up 20% to 50K a year tuition alone, in state up 10% to 27K in tuition alone (still cheap for in state), AND now we will probably NOT get our own chairs. Carefully consider your choices. Good Luck.

You should choose Buffalo. I am in Buffalo for chiropractic- but it is a huge medical hub and is growing bigger every year- the UB dental and medical students have just about every resource one could imagine- there is every type of setting that you could experience, and every type of specialty and sub-specialty here that you may want to explore.

Alos, Buffalo itself is a great town to be in when you are young. There is alot to do here during all seasons- so when you do get that tiny bit of free-time, you will always have something to explore.

Tufts!! Its the bigger name for sure and plus they just renovated so they have amazing facilities! P.s. living in boston will be a lot more fun than buffalo

what ajlst11 said. we (ub) are still cheaper than tufts for now, but the admin has said that we will not be getting our own chairs from now on (everyone from current 2nd years down are screwed). if getting your own chair is a deciding factor, safe to say ub will let you down. to prospdent, name means nothing (though ub has as good or better name recognition than tufts given our ties with the ada).

Thank you everyone for your responses. It has helped me a lot.🙂
