I did a few searches and came up with these advantages/disadvantages.

1) State of New York requires a 1 year GPR residency (is this only if you want to work in the state or if you graduate from the state??, anyone know)

2) Tufts is slightly cheaper (or is it???)
(http://dental.tufts.edu/1206352803734/TUSDM-Page-dental2w_1186496760474.html) vs (http://dental.tufts.edu/1206352803734/TUSDM-Page-dental2w_1186496760474.html)

3) Tufts has a smaller class size than NYU (barely, so doesn't matter)

4. I'll lose a $2500 deposit if I choose to go to Tufts or I lose only $750 if I go to NYU.

5. 10 hrs drive vs 14 hrs drive from home

6. Iphone Atnt works better in Boston than NY. haha

Tough choice I really liked both schools.
I think I can help you with #1, you only need to attend a residency if you are going to PRACTICE dentistry in NY, not attend a NY d school. For example you could attend NYU, take the NERBS, and start practicing in PA. Just As someone who attended a school in PA (for example) would have to do the residency after d school to practice in NY.
Good luck

The tuition of these two school are almost identical. I calculated a difference of $1843 based off their websites.

But, the cost of living in NYC is ~30% more expensive: http://www.bestplaces.net/col/?salary=50000&city1=52507000&city2=53651000

If you look at how much each school estimates, and allows, each student per year in living expense, NYC is about $10,000 more per year.

ins't the deposit at tufts $2000?

Thanks for clarifying about the residency and for the website.

When I said deposit at Tufts, I meant the waitlist deposit which is $750.

Any more opinions welcome.

TUFTS! TUFTS!! TUFTS!!!

P.s. The class size at NYU is bigger than you think. They have 350-360 students in Year 2 with all the international students. I dont think Tufts goes above 175 but I may be mistaken.
