I'm not sure if I want to specialize yet, but I would like to keep the option open. I am OOS for all 3 schools. Which one is the best bang for my buck?
Just based on my opinion, i vote the same as fanofcostco except i'd switch nyu and tufts.
Edit: but it's based on what you want out of a school, not opinions. Keep that in mind! My comment reflects how I feel with my personal desires from my career/life.

I think you need to research more, serious research. You're on the right path by asking questions though. For example, you are not OOS for any of those schools.I'm not sure if I want to specialize yet, but I would like to keep the option open. I am OOS for all 3 schools. I was faced with a similar choice (MWU, tufts, NYU, and a couple of other schools). It's so much cheaper to live in Glendale than NYC or Boston. Plus I didn't want to be in a very large class (although MWU is still large at 140 compared to other schools). Combine that with my preference for a systems based school that isn't pass/fail or PBL, and I ended up here. I don't think all students from here are better, but it fit my personal preferences.I think you need to research more, serious research. You're on the right path by asking questions though. Why? Because they are all private. They are not state schools.
Also, you will not get a clear answer. It is all based on a number of factors. Are you looking for the cheapest? Location? Cost of living? Historical specialization rates?
The clinical training quality is not something that can be answered here IMO. Yes, there is the reputation of the clinical training. But there is no basis for comparison. The answers you receive will be from predental students basing on reputation, or it will be dental students with their opinions based on reputation and maybe a little bit of bias (looking at you @fogorvostan !!!😀)
I don't think a general statement of "All students from Tufts/NYU/MWU-AZ are "better" than the other 2 schools." Too many factors involved.
Think about what is most important in your decision. As you can see, the answers you've received have varied based on a number of factors. It's really a subjective answer. What are some of the most important qualities you are looking for? Maybe you can get a more guided response.
Either way, congratulations on getting accepted to these 3 schools! That is not a small achievement.
Exactly, you narrowed down exactly what was most important for you - and you made the choice of what worked best for you.I was faced with a similar choice (MWU, tufts, NYU, and a couple of other schools). I can't speak about NYU or Boston because I did not apply to either school and I know very little about their programs. I can really only tell you about MWU because that is where I am a student
Maybe someone from NYU or Tufts would share details about their program.
- Our class size is 140 as @fogorvostan said
- Cost of living will certainly be cheapest in AZ
- Pre-clinical student:faculty ratio is ~5:1 here which is among the lowest in the nation
- MWU has a very cohesive class with a lot of social activities, events, and we collaborate a lot for studying
- AZ is an amazing place with lakes nearby, incredible rock formations, mountains to climb and ski, diverse landscapes and regions, great restaurants (Scottsdale) and nightlife (Tempe) and the people here are generally friendly and laidback compared to other parts of the country
- We have some of the highest paid faculty in the nation and many of our instructors were lured away from other programs to bring top talent to our school
- Not sure, but I think MWU is cheaper than the other two?
- Our clinic is top-notch and second to none
- I really like our curriculum for the reasons fogorvostan laid out above
- Something I didn't care about as much, but others do, is the fact that we have lots of CAD/CAMs and mills, tons of technology such as hard and soft tissue lasers, CT cone beam scanners, intraoral cameras, etc.
- You get lots of exposure to oral surgery in our clinic compared to other programs
