can anyone please tell me about Upenn? i have got lot of negative remarks from people . i dont know if it is true ,what so bad about Upenn? can anyone tell me about Upenn please ???
is it worth attending an interview or is it waste of time ?
coz i have been accepted in tufts and i seem to like the school ,but
i want to try in Upenn since it is very close to me.
can anyone tell me whether tufts is better or Upenn ?????????
hope somebody helps me .
thanks .

Really? I am suprised becuase everything I have ever read about Upenn is excellent, except for the high price. Upenn is expensive, around $45,000 a year for tuition. But it has a brand new gorgeous building with a new dent sim lab. The student lounge is like a hotlel with 2 flast panel big screens with dvd players and a computer lounge. Upenn is obvioulsy ivy league and has one of the highest specialty matching rates. They have a program where you do an externship in a hosptial for 8 weeks your senior year, allow you to study aborad for a semester and take selectives classes. Thses are elective classes you can take your 2nd year so you can take classes in subjects you are omroe interested in. They have numerous outreach programs, such as the Penn smiles van and require 80 hours of commmunity service or something like that. They also make sure you just dont study and have numerous social events like Kegs in the courtyard about once a month where faculty and students can socialize on fri afternoons. If you have anymore questions let me know, I just started my first year here. Butr i would def reccommend gooing to the interview without a doubt, if you decide the schools not for you, at least you will have seen it and potentially not regretted passing it up later.

I haven't heard any negative things about Upenn (despite the cost), Thats why I think Upenn is a better school than Tufts.

hi all,
thanks for the info.
i know Upenn is an ivy league , it is very prestigious to be in such an institution .
what iam worried is about the facilities , people and the environment.
i have heard remarks like the people r very old fashioned , never upgraded themselves and moreover they r not at all freindly ........
iam really sorry if all this is incorrect , i dont mean to disgrace any school or hurt anybodies feeling .
i just want to get a correct picture about everything . and also i have heard that during interview they really scrutinise u and chances of getting admitted is least ......
please help me if iam wrong
thanks

Are you sure you arent confusing some other school? Peerhaps this was the sentiment like 10 years ago. But, Upenn has a brand new dental school, so i dont know about old fashioned. They are one of te only dental schools that lets you take selectives courses. They do use the old didactic method of teaching, AKA you sit in class the first year and read books. But about 95% of the schools use that method, istead of the new PBL method which I hate and only like 3 schools use. The people are probably the friendliest out of any school. I know becuase I went to a few interivews and the teachers are like none other here. How many other schools have kegs in the courtyard on fri afternnoons (occasionally of course, not every week), so the professors can socialize witih the students. TRUST ME JUST GO TO THE INTERVIEW AND THEN DECIDE, DO NOT GO BY HEARSAY.

Upenn vs Tufts???????????

You gotta be kidding me.

Upenn all the way.... school-wise.

But.... Philly SUCKS, and going to school in Boston WOULD be sweet!

Yes, I would have to agree, Philly does blow. But we do have the best food in the nation, AKA why we are the fattest city in the US, and the school tries to help our social life by giving us alcohol for free at around every 2 weeks or so.

the reason philly is the fattest city in the US isn't b/c of the good food...(definately better places in ny, sf, la, etc...) it's because everyone sells/eats cheesesteaks and mcdonalds.

Word up. Bean town or Philly Cheese Steak? I'll take the Cheese Steak over beans anyday! 😀

Yes, I'm sick and tired of Buffalo Wings.

thank u all for the info........
it was very helpful......
cheers
