congrats on your recent acceptance. i applied to the md/mph program and have not yet heard anything. do you have any idea what sort of factors they take into consideration? do they look at md/mph applicants separately?

i'm not really sure what exactly they're looking for. to be honest, i didn't have much exposure to/experience with public health (though i am very interested). i believe they do look at md/mph applicants separately - the acceptance letter states that if i turn down my position in the combined degree program, i may still be considered for the trad. md program, though it is NOT guaranteed...

Exactly how much extra is the MD/MPH program? I have an interview coming up in March, and I was curious. I haven't been able to find the cost of the combined program anywhere.

it's a little over 3K for the MPH component. tufts is the only school so far that has included a 'statement of financial planning' with their acceptance letter, and it states that the full cost of attendance for four years is approx. 216,000...AND that we should assume that financial need will be met solely through various student loan programs...tufts is too small to offer grants, i guess.

just can't do it.

Hi doof,

When did you interview at Tufts? and congrats on your acceptance! I interviewed in January and was told that I'll get a decision in early March.. I also seem to remember that you got into Penn State after being put on hold (am I thinking of the right person?); were you "rolled over" for further review and accepted at Tufts later as well? If you don't mind my asking all these questions

Oh, and VAD; did you ever get pulled for an interview at UMAB? I was on hold for a long time and finally heard; will be interviewing there in just over a week!

I too interviewed at Tufts in early January and I was told that March was the earliest it would be.

katie: yep, that's me (good memory!). and yes, i was also rolled over by tufts at first. i interviewed at tufts sometime in late october, i think. i think they were pretty prompt with the first notification (that they hadn't come to a decision yet re: my application), and then i got my acceptance just a couple of weeks ago...

I did eventually interview at UMAB

but no word back from them yet. I really like the campus and the facilities, but I'm not a big fan of Baltimore. I'm also not a fan of the letter grades. The students in general didn't seem to like the amount they had to study, but other than that they had no complaints. The Dean of Admissions was great, and my interviewers were very interesting people that I'd like to get to know better. Overall, I'm definitely interested in attending if offered an acceptance. I hope to hear some good news soon. Good luck to you on your upcoming interview!
