Tufts

I'm in the same situation. I can't guarantee this is true, but someone asked about it when I interviewed. Apparently Tufts can only have four students. If they get 5, they can't fund one. If they get 3, somehow funding is in jeopardy for the next year. I guess they only have four acceptances out at any one point, and don't really reject anyone that is even somewhat qualified until the very last minute, so they can find another person if someone drops out - they have to have their four! I was under the impression that everyone they didn't contact is on some kind of really long nebulous waitlist. At least that was my impression, from what the secretary said at the interview....
Has anyone heard anything post-interview? At all? I'm ready to make a decision, but it's tough with that last little fishing line out there...
I heard a good thing from them early last week, but I decided to decline their offer.
I was really surprised to hear from them. I thought they had forgotten about me.
Congratulations on all your success totalcommand, but I have to ask the obligatory question of all nailbiters...how did they contact you?

they contacted me by phone, but I also received something in the mail about a week later.
I'm at Tufts, if you are curious e-mail the director or Sara. The funding thing is not really an issue, the program usually takes 4 a year. There was some question because we just got our NIH site review and in this climate we were worried we'd lose spots but they actually gave us some spots so that was great news. There has been no decision about increasing the number of admits, probably no increase from 4 for this year since we only got the news this month. The question about admitting 3 was that the progam does admitt from the med M1 M2, if interested students apply so there were 3 first years and a M2 admitt last year. Again the staff is very friendly so feel free to ask and state your intent if you have other admits.
Hey r1oid,
When you say that they "actually gave us some spots" do you mean that there will be more than 4 spots next year?

Thanks - I'm glad to know what I thought wasn't really true! probably not good that a few of us were talking about it on the way to the airport and thought that's what we heard... hopefully I'm not spreading any only partially true rumors! Makes me feel better - I wouldn't mind getting a call sometime, either!
Have you also recieved the email from the office saying that you are still on the list, and may get an acceptance, but to accept another offer if you have it? Just curious...
