Anyone know when Tufts will start sending out interviews?

Nope I don't think they have started interview process yet.

I'm "under review" at tufts, but they will keep many people under review until February or beyond. They interview and accept later than many many schools

Are you referring to the fee request email?

In a previous year's thread Tufts started invites on oct 15.

yes, it was the fee request email, and in the third or fourth paragraph they stated when they would start interviewing, if you got that email, then I am sure you saw the same thing.

They got back to me today telling me they're putting my file on hold because they want to see how I do this semester. Apparently a year of masters with a nice GPA wasn't good enough for them haha. Ohhhh well

May I ask how many courses did you take in your one year of master studies?

It seems like Tuft has started as well. I have a feeling we will get alot of action from them this week.

Haha sorry I meant I got the email yesterday. Just happened to check it today. So far I've taken 22 credits; that includes 2 dental courses - Dental Biochem & Oral Immunology. Maybe they're waiting to see how I do in Dental Physio =/

They must be interviewing for SOMETHING because I saw some kids in suits poking their heads into class today.

Having said that, when I interviewed, I was in the FIRST group.. and that was on November 11. So, I have no idea how they're doing things this year.

a little off topic, but for this application cycle is Tufts starting to add more seats? I remember something about after completing their vertical expansion remodeling, Tufts would increase 125 seats to 175 or something like that?

can anyone confirm?

Tufts' website states c/o 2013 is 175 students.

So I was browsing Tufts' website and they require your dentist's letter of recommendation to include the number of hours you've shadowed them for. I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't find it appropriate to tell my dentist what to put in my own letter, so I can't be sure he included the amount of time I spent with him. Is anyone else in the same boat and do you think its going to affect me? And if he did include the number of hours but they didn't exactly match what I wrote on my application, are they going to suspect me of lying? I shadowed him over the course of a few years and he's had several students in his office every month so I highly doubt he can remember how many hours I shadowed him for. I really hope this doesn't hurt my chances 🙁

I am with you on that one, and I would not worry about it. They can look on are application if they want to know how many hours we shadowed, I was not going to tell my dentist to put the hours in the letter. If that is a big enough deal to keep us from getting interviews, then that would be just stupid.

Tufts emailed me that my LOR from a Biology professor doesn't count because I did not have class with them even though I had research credits for over a year.... sucks because its too late in the game AND I already have 4!!😡

I actually told my dentist to write whatever he wanted about me, but I also said, please, somewhere in the letter, do specify that I spend 50 hours shadowing with you (50 hrs is about how much I shadowed with him)

He said "no problem"....

Why are you saying it would be inappropriate? Its a requirement that some schools want, so irrespective of how appropriate/inappropriate it is, you need to do it or... don't apply to that school

I applied super early (June 8) and just got an interview invite last week, so it did take quite a while, but i expect things will start to speed up now that they're starting interview offers

🙂 Thanks ah1989 🙂 ... Knowing that makes me feel more hopeful. My application went to schools in pieces (long story) So I have no idea where I'd be in the app complete pile.

I havent even gotten an email request for the check/money order, should i just mail it to them now or should i wait? Is there an online payment option? 😕

Call them and ask them if your application is complete!

They sent me an email a little after i submitted my app (end of august) but I think if they didn't send you an email, you should contact them. They seemed to be a little behind other dental school so it may just be a processing issue but you should call to double check, they were really nice when i called.... good luck!

Also, i think you have to send in a check, its not an online payment

just realized i didnt ask my dentist to put hours shadowed on my LOR. anyone know if this would prevent application from being complete or getting an interview at tufts??

From what i remember in the last cycle, Tufts interviews and accepts applicants very late into the cycle compared to everyone else.

I submitted early July but wasn't complete until late August. Call to see if they have everything. Otherwise, you should hear soon. As far as I know, they only filled up the first half of November.
